So Why is my poop green? The most common reason, is because it is something you have eaten. This can be from eating a large amount of green veg. Green veg, is green, obvious, and this comes from chlorophyll in the greens, and although having greens with a meal will have no effect, if you eat a large amount on their own it can. If your green stool, has any blood, read no further, pick up the phone and make an appointment to see your doctor. If it is something serious, then the earlier it is checked up on the better. But again esp. if you have been constipated, you may have a little tear in the anus area, so even if you have blood in your stool it can still be something simple, but get it checked.
Why is my poop green
Not a subject that you would bring up at the dinner table. But what your stool is like can give a good indication of how well your inners are. Think about it, if what you are eating is not coming out as it should, then something inside is not working as it should, or is working to much. You can tell this because your stool is not the right color, or texture. So when the color is not right, something must have caused it. If this only happens every now and then, the chances are that it is something that you have eaten, it has been known that ice cream sauces have caused green poop, one example where someone had ice cream once a week and next day, green poop. They figured it out by themselves just working out what they had eaten the day before.
If you are having green poop or stools on a regular basis then you may have a different problem, if in doubt it is always best to go to the doctor and have it checked up. The internet is great as a first port of call. Look for the simple things, but if you have ruled them out, then it is time to see someone who knows what they are looking for, namely a doctor,
What causes green poop
Another reason for green poop is that to much bile is being secreted into the upper intestinal track, the bile is green in color, normally as your food is digested the color changes to brown, so either the digested food is going through a lot quicker than it should, or there is to much bile being produced. now both of these conditions can be caused through what you eat , In this case instead of it being a one off thing to do with what you have eaten, this can be a more general thing, still to do with what you have eaten, but this time, it is more to do with your diet, to much fat is not good, we are not here not talking about natural fat, but the processed type, what I call the rubbish fat, that ends up in cakes, meat pies, both in the filling as well as in the pastry, another one is biscuits, but again if you are having green poop for a number of days then get it checked.
Treatment For Green Poop
First things if your doctor has recommended a treatment then that is what you should follow. On the other hand the two main things you can do yourself, is have a look at your diet. A colon cleanse is highly recommended if you have been having trouble like diarrhoea, or constipation. The colon cleanse with get rid of any waist that may still be in the colon. There are quite a few people who have them on a regular basis, like a clean out every now and then. Have a more in depth read in the category on the side bar.
Green Poop In Children
Green poop in children can be very alarming, although being a parent i think the worst injury is when they have a little nick on their head from where they have fallen over, or something similar, and you have not spotted it straight away, give it a minute or two and they look like they have been in a horror movie, with a little bit of blood running down their face. Sorry I digress, back to the green poop in children, again something they have eaten, and this time not necessarily food, younger kids will put anything in their mouths, for instance have they been drawing, esp. them waxy crayons, great for drawing, but also soft enough to eat. But again if in doubt get it checked out.
Why is my poop green? Most of the time it is just what you have eaten, but if there is blood in your stool, or you are getting green poop for more that a couple of days, get it checked.
